DVD RW R9 Packard Bell

DVD RW R9 works fine with DVD's, but when a blank cd is inserted to copy Music\data pop-up message appears saying <please insert a blank disc>.Any suugestions?

If this is just a software problem using system restore to a time when both worked should correct it.

I would guess the laser for CD media is either dirty or burned out. There are TWO lasers in your drive. One for CD and one for DVD. You can try a lense cleaning kit or replace the drive.

edit to add: I meant to perform a system restore from the start button, if that option is available on your system.

what burning swre are you using?
roxio, nero anything particular?
i have to change the type of media in the swre when i burn with nero it will not automaticly pick for the media
