Using a Digital Video Camera. Got the video transferred off of the camera onto the computer and burned onto a DVD using included ArcSoft ShowBiz. On that computer and another laptop computer that has a DVD player it plays fine. When try to play the disk on the Entertainment system DVD player to the Television it only plays video in Black and White.

Is there a compatability issue with the Home DVD player and the burned DVD so that it will only ever show up B&W or is there some settings or program changes to do to make it work in color on the Television? I expect that this particular disk cannot be used for the Television, but what can I do to make future disks correct?

Did you happen to use the wrong video format? Your TV is either NTSC or PAL, if your in US or Canada, your NTSC. But, if the video is recorded in PAL, it will be in black and white. But I never heard of a DVD player playing a different video standard, at least without modification...

Depends on the DVD player. My DVD ROM drive and decoder will show either PAL or NTSC movies but will only display properly on the computer monitor. PAL won't sync properly on the TV though. As Hakemon suggests, if I set the decode to PAL for an NTSC movie, it displays in B/W.

You would normally send the video signal from the computer to the S-Video connector on the TV set.The same problem exists with older stand alone home DVD units that don't have this type of output to the TV.If you can't do this you have to use the RCA yellow connector on the other video input called AV1 or AV2.You may have to buy a few 'Y' RCA plugs at your local 1$ store if you have more than one piece connected in AV1 like a video games set.You need two for sound and one for video.Check your connectors closely for the right choice of male/female ends.Good luck.

Thanks.

We are in Ohio, USA so the player is most likely NTSC. Trying to play this disc on a stand alone DVD player that is hooked up to play regular DVDs on the Television. I don't know what the default format is on the DVD burner program that is on the computer that this DVD was made with.

The player works fine with regular DVD movies rented from the video store. I haven't looked at it to see if it is plugged in with S-Video cable but I am suspecting that it is not. I was told that it is connected with 'MonsterCables'. I expect that it is connected with L&R audio and Video through a set of RCA plugged cables.

Any further suggestions?

Apparently the young child of the household was playing with the remote control and switched the settings of the DVD player to B&W. Just had to reset the player.
