Ok, first just wanted to let you know that I just installed my new Sony dvd drive on another computer and it works great. I won't go into system specs because my computer is new and shouldn't have this prob... Anyway, in my computer it's showing as DVD RAM Drive. when I put an empty DVD DL +R in (it's compatible) its shows Used space 0, Free Space 0, says CD Rom Drive and won't let me access it at all it keeps saying incorrect funtion. People have been saying that windows isn't supposed to recognize it, but that's NOT the situation that most are having..... Most can't even burn onto their DVDs because of this...Even in Nero and ImgBurn it's saying Disc is NOT empty. I've tried all the tutorials on deleting drivers, going into RegEdit, changing the master and slave jumper and nothing seems to work. It's not a case of a bad drive either and here's why - today I've been at future shop THREE TIMES!! lol Thinking that I was getting bad drives, I'm now on my third brand so I KNOW it's not the drives.. Any thoughts on what should be done?? Everyone ensures me that it should work and nobody is sure why it isn't.. Now weirdly enough, on the other system that I just put it on, it's now showing as DVD RW Drive and runs great...
