If I were in your shoes the first thing i would check is connection cd\dvd drive. Sometimes cables can be bad connected with each other and with devices. Just check if all cables that connect ur drive are ok, without cracks. Ecpesially if drive dissapears suddenly.
If cables are ok, then it can be a problem with drivers perhaps.

ok that's sounds like a bit technical. I am not well experienced in taking apart laptops but I have done some diassembling with an old laptop of mine. So what should I be looking for exactly? I think I can take the dvd rom drive out and re connect it. Is there any other cable involved? Do tell me if there is anything I should be careful when I am checking these internal parts. Thank you

would this guide is enough to get the things done.I am referring to only page 1 of the article

what my point here is there is no cables atatched to the DVD Rom just unscrew and push the metal bracket and that's it Am I to do anything else aprart from the procedure?

should I be doing the step 16 on page 2 just the DVD cable?
