i recently installed a dvd burner on my computer and everything was working fine until i downloaded a program that decrypted copyrighted dvds and now my computer doesnt recognize my dvd burner or my cd burner(which is seperate). I've heard something about lower and upper filters but I am not sure what to do.

You are on the right track:
0. From the Start menu click Run
1. In the Run dialogue box type: regedit
2. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and look for the Upper Filters value
3. Right click on the Upper Filter Value and, from the menu click Delete
4. Next navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and look for the Lower Filter value
5. Again Right Click on the Lower Filter Value and, from the menu, click Delete
6. Finally exit the registry editor and reboot your machine

Quick question for thefull90. Are your drives on the same channel? I have the same problem and was wondering if you could help me with that answer.
