hi i have a BTC bdv316e drive and it doesnt seem to be reading cds or dvds anymore. I when to the site to DL the driver but when i try to install the driver it gives me this msg "can't found MSCDEX.exe in the DOS path" what do i do?

Optical drive issues are very easy to diagnose, either the laser is dirty or the drive is hosed. I'd suggest you get a CD/DVD drive cleaner and try that first, if you still can't read from it after doing that try the option below.
Use a startup diskette to boot up in real DOS mode and change to the optical drive's directory, if you get any error reading any disc in the drive, then the drive is hosed and needs to be replaced.
