hi all: I have 1 dvd rom and 1 DVD burner installed on my desktop. the DVD burner is working just fine. but my dvd rom can't read any cd or dvd. I went to the device manager and check it status and it shows it is being recognized by the machine. So i I thought i may have a bad IDE cable, therefore I just put another brand new IDE cable and check the jumper and everything but still it can't read any cd or dvd. I know this dvd rom is working because i put it on another machine and it is working just fine. I don't know what's going on here. Any suggestion?? Thanks in advance for any input.

If both the burner & DVD drive are on the same cable, try separating them. Set the DVD drive to slave & connect it to the primary channel with the HDD....leave the burner on the secondary channel as master.
