I cant burn DVD. My BenQ ATAPI DVD+RW drive isnt recognized by the burning software as a DVD not CD burning unit. Its not recognized at all. I checked the device manager for issues but I dont know enough to interpret whats in there.

It does play CD and DVD normally but I cant burn DVDs with it.

What burning program are you using? XP is not capable of burning dvd's, a third party program is required, Nero, Roxio or other.

Nero and Roxio both have drive list updates on thier sites. If the drive is properly identified in the POST screens at start up and in My computer then it is a problem with the burning software.

What burning software are you using? As was pointed out WinXP can't natively burn DVDs.
