Hi everyone,
I have Avid Media Composer. I exported the file as a quick time, then burned it to dvd using NERO 7. Every test i can find including nero's say the sicks are fine. I burned 16 disks with a lite-on burner and sent out 15. The client complained of stopping and skipping. When I reviewed my copy in a DVD payer it did stop and skip but still passed test. (It actually played fine in the computer but not in a dvd player)

I burned 16 more. Sampled 3 and watched them from beginning to end with no problems. This time i used a IDE Sony burner hooked up through USB. I only burned at 8x. I used magnavox media. The client still complains of skipping, pixilation and stopping. He has tried it in to dvd players as well as his computer.

So, is there anyway to find failing DVDs? How can i prevent this. What am I doing wrong? Could they be messing up in shipping? He says there are no visible scratches, and they are all in jeawl cases.

Are there any companies that can just make DVDs from a mini dv tape or the actual avid file? This is a really good paying client and i don't want to loose him. I have never had any problems like this in the past.

Thansk,
Cody

P.S. sorry for the long post, but thanks for reading.

A 'very' long shot! How about exporting the videos from Avid Media Composer as MPEG2 files instead of Quick Time. DVD files (VOBs) are actually renamed MPEG2s so there wouldn't be as much converting done by Nero.

I'm not familiar with Avid Media Composer but Quick Time seems like an odd choice?
