Comment: My DVD drive for some reason shows up as a CD drive under my computer. In the BIO's it says DVDROM 10x, and it says thing thing under device manager, but it says CD dr. in my computer. When I put CDs into it, it wont read, the spinning "busy" cd icon will pop up next to my cursor, but thats all, the CD doesnt show up on the computer. I have 3 opitcal drives hooked up with 2 hard drives. I have a 400 Wat power supply. 2 of the opitcal drives, the CD-R and DVD 10x are on the same IDE cable connected to the motherboard, while the DVD-R is connected to a ATA card. Before I reinstalled XP, all the drives were working prefectly, its until now that the DVD drive is recongised as a CD drive and wont even run CDs, although for some reason if I right click and go to Eject, the drive will eject. Please HELLP!

Reply: (edit)I disagree with the above...sometimes there are problems when pairing up 2 HDDs or 2 optical drives on the same cable/channel. Try this: prim master = HDD w/OS prim slave = DVD-ROM 2ndary master = CDRW** 2ndary slave = 2nd HDD** **these to can be switched if it makes cabling easier I question the need for 3 optical drives. I'd dump the CDRW altogether & put the DVD burner on the 2ndary channel This space for rent
