DVD Drive showing as a Floppy Drive

Specs: Windows XP
I was recently forced to reformat my computer after a nasty worm infection. The computer, prior to the infection, ran flawlessly. It is a custom build, so I want to stress that all the components functioned together properly before the reformat.

I re-installed XP from the boot disc that came with the machine. After managing to update the drivers, I felt the machine was working fine. Then yesterday, I popped a disc into the DVD drive and nothing happened. So I open My Computer and rather than showing the two DVD drives I have installed (and were working fine up until then) it showed a floppy drive and a CD drive, neither of which have ever been installed on this computer.

I opened the BIOS and it showed the drive there. It will even boot from the disc when I put the boot disc in the DVD drive, but once in Windows, it shows a Floppy drive. I tried to uninstall the Floppy in the Device Manager in the hope that it would recognize it as a DVD drive with no luck.

I am not familiar with the exact ID's of my components. The DVD drive was made by LG but I don't know the model to even look up drivers for it.

Problem has been solved. In the device Manager, I updated my RAID Controller and the drives appeared.

Did you install the motherboard chip set drivers?
