Name: Jesse (by mooneyjess1999)
I have two DVD Drives in my computer, one is a JLMS XJ-HD166S (this one is set as Master), the other one is a Sony DRU-830A, which is a 18x Burner.
My JLMS XJ-HD166S is getting old (and probably very dusty inside), I wonder would it make more sense if the burner was set as the master, since it is faster and better.
I have always had in my mind that the burner ALWAYS has to be the slave, and the reader HAS to be the master. What is the standard for computer builders out there?
Thank You,
Jesse

One other thing that I wanted to add, I am not longer using my Primary IDE for Hard Drives (Since I use SATA now), it is just empty right now. So can I do the Writer as the Primary IDE and the reader as the Secondary IDE?
Thank You,
Jesse

If you no longer use IDE hard drives then by all means use both channels. If you do on the fly copying it will go much faster that way.

There's no performance difference between Master and Slave.
But like Othehill said, putting the drives on separate channels will really help copying from one to the other.
