Hi, I just reformatted my windows xp professional sp2 and now my dvd drive can't read anything. It's a LG HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4081B. I updated it to its latest firmware (A104)and it still doesn't work. It doesn't read cd rom or dvd's. It worked fine before the reformat. I also have a HP CD-Writer+9700k cd-rw drive. They are both working fine according to the device manager. Both, the cd-rw drive and the dvdram have the same driver (5.1.2535.0) which was installed by windows automatically. I tried to uninstall the dvd writer and let windows reinstall it after restarting but that didn't work. When I put the dvd in, basically nothing happens, the green light flashes for about 5 seconds and it just goes idle from there. I try to run it manually by actually double clicking the dvd drive but it just says "please insert a disk into drive E:". But I already have a disk inserted. What could be the problem?
