I am runing win2k and I just re-installed thinking it would fix the problem. Whenever I insert a dvd into my dvd drive, concidentaly also a burner it says it has Cylinder Redunancy Check errors.

I know its the drive because the disks work fine on many other computers and have tryed disks burnt from many different computers.

This mostly happens when I'm transfuring files 100mb+. Please Advise thanks.

why the heck wont it freekin work?!!?

It's Cyclic Redundancy Check.
Sounds like your drive's ability to read is deteriorating. It could be caused by dirt a failing laser, or ???.
You could try blowing out the drive with a can of compressed air.

CRC errors are a check, similar to memory parity checking, where blocks of data are padded with bits at the write end of the process, and checked again at the read end to see if the data matches.

It could be a write or read error, which could indicate a failing drive.

This may occurr if you are trying to multitask while transferring files, you should close all applications when burning or transferring files.

Most likely it is the quality of the IDE CABLE connecting the DVD drive to the motherboard. Make sure it is a UDMA cable, that means 80 conductors (40 pins).

The reason you are seeing this error when doing large transfers is the DVD spins up to its maximum transfer speed, so data starts to flow on the IDE cables very fast. At high data rates there can be noise and signal deterioration (reflections) and so there can be CRC errors. You will not get these signal errors at lower speeds, since IDE cables have no problems with regular data transfer rates.

The reason you did not see any errors on your other computers is they either have a better quality cable, or a slower drive. Either case would prevent data transfer errors.

This problem you describe is very common but almost always misdiagnosed (especially by salespeople, since they want you to buy a new unit!) The first thing you should do is install a brand new UDMA speed (80 conductor) cable. Very cheap.
