I'm having problems with an LG CDRW/DVD-ROM combo drive which I've just installed. The drive itself works fine when reading and burning cds and when playing back audio cds. However when I try to play a dvd with PowerDVD, it says the audio is not available. I've got in contact with LG and they say it could be something to with my graphics card being macro compatible. I can't tell from their website or from the manual whether my XFX GeForce2 64mb video card is macro compatible or not. To be honest I'm not too sure what this means. I think it may be something to do with macrovision. Can anybody offer me some advice?
Try going into device manager, the DVD drive, and select or unselect the extract digital audio button. That might help. Also, is the audio cable from you DVD drive connected to you sound card? Some graphics cards (like ATI all-in-wonder series) have CD_IN and AUX_IN audio, so connect to that instead of sound card. However, before fiddling with stuff, try other software like that above.
