dvd burning problem

I have an MSI 4x dvd burner. I just wanted to tester out with some test burns. I went to burn a dvd video disk and it only came up with 2x as the highest option. Whats up with that? I used ahead nero, (which came with the burner) what else can affect the speed? it was a dvd-r

1. Max burner speed.
2. Max media speed
3. User speed selection in burner program.

im pretty sure your burner is 4x for DVD+R and 2x for DVD-R...this applies to my plextor 4x DVD+-RW also....

Nope, right on the box it points out 4x for -r and +r
