Dvd burner

I have a dvd burner that is not even a year old. i just setup my new computer and when i go to hookup the burner the computer does not see it. it will see my cdrom but not my dvd burner. the green light on the front just stays on. anyone might know what is going on?

you should might be more specific about the dvd burner interface, the motherboard slots and other usual information and may be, with that facts, one of us could answer your doubts!

Okay the hd is on the primary and the dvd burner in on the secondary. and will not run. it doe snot see it in the bios and the green light on the front just stays green.

Steve,

Make sure the jumper(s) in the back are set up correctly to reflect whether it's a "master" or "slave."

Are they both on the same cable/channel? Split them up...make the CD the primary slave & the burner the 2ndary master. Make sure the master/slave jumpers are set correctly - do NOT use cable select

AND make sure the cable is plugged in the correct way. The light staying on all the time usually indicates the cable is in upside down.
