You will need something like DVD Shrink. a store purchased DVDs are usually around 9 gigs. store bought DVDs are 4.3 gigs (not going to get into the dual layer conversation right now). DVDShrink will compress the data down to a usable size.

I doubt it's the software since the DVD he's trying to copy is home made.
What kind of error do you get? Who made the DVD, with what kind of program?

A) Is your dvd burner a dual format?
If not, check which format the dvd burner can handle. Plus (+) or minus (-).

B) i know it's maybe stupid, but double check if the recordable dvd is actually blank.

C) Is your dvd burner recognized by windows? Check the system manager. Try to delete it and restart your system. Windows will automatically re-install it.
