Comment: My burner has been acting funny for awhile. It's a Sony DW-U12A. It was having trouble playing any kind of disc. It would knock around unable to read it. Now it reads everything perfectly. However, it refuses to burn DVDs. I've tried different software. I've tried burning straight from authoring software and through burning software. I've tried copy from on dvd to another and I've tried +r and +rw. I even restored the system to it's factory setting in case it was the system screwing something up. It still does not work. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? Thanks

Reply: (edit)It looks like your DVD burner is dual format. Have you tried -R and -RW disks?

Reply: (edit)Sound like the burner is bad. Contact the sony support and if you're still on warranty replace it! Or is it possible that your power supply is too small????

Reply: (edit)Tell more which media you are using. Have you changed them recently, because some burners have to update the firmware, before reconize new media. All media have a serial "code" and if your burner dont reconize it, then ups.
