I have a Yamakawa 8X DVD burner. I use it to make copies of all my DVD's with no problem, using DVD Shrink. With cheap or expensive media, it works every time.
I want to burn some data files from my HD to a DVD, in case my HD ever dies I want a backup. I use Nero 6 Ultra Edition to burn a Data DVD. It completes successfully, says "data verification successfull", but when I try to read the data, it can't. The same drive that burned it can't read it.
But in every other task the burner works great. Audio CD's, data CD's, movie DVD's. I've tried tons of different media, Sony, Memorex, no name, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD RW.
Please offer ideas. I'm at my wits end.
Thank you

Data backup and DVD copying is different so maybe try using NTBackup or another Backup program. I'm not familiar with DVD Shrink but will venture to say it isn't made for backing up files.
