Hi there,

My mate has just bought a Lite-On dual-layer DVD burner and it has ridiculous system requirements listed on the side of the box.

512 MB RAM, 1.8 GHZ Pentium 4, 9 GB!!!!!

Needless to say, his comp can NOWHERE NEAR meet these requirements.

My question is, would these requirements be for the burning software that comes with the burner, or are some of them just what is needed to run the burner?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes. The burning software runs the burner.

I've used a very similar DVD burner with an 800Mhz PIII, no problems. Though the software bundled with your drive would probably be unuseable on a computer that slow.

What is so rediculous about needing a 1,8 gHz processor and 512 megs of RAM? That's actually not a very powerfull system. The 9 gigs is what you need in hard drive free space so if your copying a disc, it has room on the drive for the temporary image file.

The package should note Minimum and recommended requirements.
Do not go below minimum as you will not be satisfied.

1.8ghz is kinda alot of a bunch of folks that are on AMD to be honest

1.8 means XP 2600+ or greater

or A64 3000 or more

Sempron 3000+

i mean 1.8 is alot for AMD systems
