Up until two weeks ago my dvd burner worked flawlessly for about 6 months it would rip and copy in about 35 minutes. Now it's taking about an hour to rip and about 45 minutes to burn. Anyone have any idea what the problem maybe.
Thanks

More detail:
What you are burning, media, software?
My LITE ON dvd-rom should take about 15 minutes to rip a 6-7GB dvd into hd. My NEC burner should take 14 minutes to finsih burning a movie into a 4.7GB dvd-r at 4x.

I am backing up my dvd's. I use either dvd shrink with copy to dvd or 1clickdvdcopy which comes with copy to dvd.

That is about how long my burner use to take. How it's just ridiculous. I don't know what's going on.

I've had this happen before. Too much s**t running in the background. Check task manager for usage, defrag, and try unplugging your internet access during recording. Even 321 studios forum said to unplug nic, shutdown firewall, and turn off anti-virus for perfect and fast burns. Go have a beer and let the thing do it's job.
One of my systems has four HD's and reads/ burns a complete movie in 30 minutes; my Server with 11 HD's takes up to 3 hours to read/burn the same thing!

I don't have any new advice, just a similiar circumstance. I have a Dell 4600, with a 8X TEAC DVD+RW DV-W58E. I have backed up about 50 DVD's, each one taking about 30min to burn. Suddenly, it takes about 60min to burn a DVD, despite not burning a full disc sometimes. I did nothing hardware wise or software wise, which is why I am writing this. Any suggestions? I have a 160GB HD, with about 50GB free, so it's by no means maxed out. I'm even using the same media. Any thoughts?
