dvd burner says cdr drive

Hi how come my dvd burner says cdr drive instead of dvd burner

drive E is dvd burner and drive F is cd burner they both say cd burner

If the drive functions properly I wouldn't worry about it.

Apparently this is nothing to worry about. I have a CD ROM that is reported as being a 3 1/2" Floppy.
I tried for months to make it report correctly but finally gave up. Strange how Windows works.

Before the days of sp2 if i was to install XP with sp1 and not perform any updates my DVD-RW would shows simply as DVD-R, after updates it would report properly, have you installed all the updates?

it doesn't work properly it won't read dvd movies or dvd blank disc's it only reads music cds so i think that might be the problem i have a LG GSA 4081b and i updated the firmwire

im talking about updating your operating system, but even so it should still read and burn DVD, if is was you i'd test it in another machine.
