I've been using my DVD burner a lot lately, and now it seems that for it to read a disc, it takes a long time. If I try to copy a disc, it takes nearly 6 hours. Burning time seems normal, but copying is outrageous. Its an 8X Lite-On burner, sohw-802s. Anyone have any ideas? Can the burner just burn out... at even less than 100 burns total?

I've looked all over, and from what I've found, there is no firmware updates for my drive. I don't know if you know somewhere else I can look, but from what I know it isn't a firmware issue. Any other ideas?

Oh, and this is what I read before, I found it now.

"Lite-On SOHW-802S, no firmware available (OEM drive for Dell PCs)"

Try downloading the firmware for the SOHW-812S. When you open that firmware package it automatically scans your system for compatible drives. I opened it looking for a readme file and instead it told me there were no compatible drives in my system and then listed each of my three optical drives. Only one of them is a Liteon.
