Hey Guys,

Ok, so - over the past year i've been wanting to learn about motherboard repairs and diagnostics. I purchased a faulty laptop, fixed it but i am still left with one issue. The keyboard does not work!

I have tried swapping the actual keyboard its self from another laptop, exactly the same model & still nothing. USB keyboard works fine.

Ok, so out comes my magnifying glass, i checked each tiny connections on-board including the small chips, all are receiving the correct voltage and no connections are damaged or out of place. I am just wondering if you guys had any ideas?

I know the viable option would be to take it to a MB repair centre...but where is the fun of actually learning something new!? valuable experience means a lot, even if i burn the MB. lol

I'lld appreciate any such response & thank you in advance.

You BOUGHT a faulty laptop? Just curious how much you paid? Ppl sometimes give their bad machines away. I don't buy them - I tell ppl that they need to recycle their PCs properly and cannot just throw them away, and I can do that for them, if they desire. I don't even buy working used computers anymore - just too risky and the pace of technology and all the proprietary model lines make parts interchangeability very difficult (the manufacturers know what they're doing - $).

Old laptop rant here (post #3): http://www.computing.net/answers/ha...

- RE: laptop MOBO repairs, this is component level repair. This is a very specialized thing due to the very small & intricate hardware components and architecture of laptops. IF indeed that's what you're trying to do, special training and tools are needed as this isn't really a do it your selfer type of thing (imho). Good Luck anyway.

Just another stupid saying...
