What is the fastest Duron available ?? I've been pricing up a computer for a friend and was going to knock up my usual Duron 1.3 GHz system when I noticed Duron's with 266FSB and up to 1.6 GHz - whats going on ?? The AMD site quotes the fastest Duron as 1.3 GHz with 200Mhz FSB.

The Applebred is the new Duron. Less cache, more ghz, 266fsb instead of 200fsb, 130nm process instead of 180nm. Its a tbred with less cache.

"The chip will be offered at 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8GHz, AMD European marketing chief, Richard Baker, told The Register today.
Essentially, the chips will be targeted at the world's less wealthy nations where price is more important that performance.*
Baker said the three Applebred chips would not be explicitly offered in more mature PC markets, but if customers want them, they can have them.
* Yeah because a $30 applebred is so much more affordable than a $45 1700+.
