Ever since I put in my socket 939 AMD x2 4200+, IE7 will frequently lock up when I am opening a web page. I have changed the affinity to work on just one cpu and it still does it. All windows updates, video and mobo drivers are up to day. Any solutions??

Well it's not the processor but ie7 itself. If the processor was causing it somehow due to a hardware lockup, windows would freeze entirly and not just one program. Try to repair ie7 in the internet options advanced tab. If that doesn't work uninstall ie7 and if you haven't already downlaod the ie7 browser update that was released in oct of this year from microsoft.

It could be the processor, we have no tests or diags to prove any issue just yet.

I suggest that any issue needs to start at the event viewer for easy clues. If not there then see about dump logs or you might have to construct a performance monitor test.

I assume that this was a clean install on the new processor and you just didn't plop the new processor in.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

True, I don't disagree with that statement. I too suspect the software either the OS , IE or even bios settings but I know that new doesn't mean good. I have seen plenty of ESD damaged components. Funny how they fail. As he said. He replaced the processor and now an issue. What, we just don't have enough info to decide yet is all.
