Dual Monitors/Media Center

Specs: Windows 7, Duo Core/2GB
I have one PC and connected to it is an LCD Monitor and my LCD TV. What I am trying to achieve is being able to watch whatever on Windows Media Center displayed on my TV while browsing websites or typing something up in Word on my Monitor. I have everything to a point where it seems possible but the following are the issues I have run into.

On the TV when Windows Media Center is in full screen I can not move the mouse to the other screen. I have tryed Alt+Tab which allows me to move the mouse over but than Media Center does not respond to the media center remote (obviously because it is no longer the active window.

Do I have other options? Nvidia control panel used to have an option for multiple desktops though I cant find the option is this something that would remedy the issue?

Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

Is there nobody that can give me insight? My only other option is to dish out money for a Media Center Extender which I have been trying to avoid.

When you move the Media Center to the other monitor--do not maximize the screen. If you just keep it in the movable type window and then drag the corners to the edge of the screen, you may be able to keep the mouse active on both screens. I have an older Media Center and find the same problem you describe if I maximize the screen.
