"these are all online rumors"

Where the hell are you hearing these "rumors"? And why are you listening to rumors instead of trying to dig up some hard facts? I can tell you whatever you wanna hear, does that mean you'll accept whatever I say to be true? Google is your friend, USE IT!!

Same goes for you, OilPatch!

""i heard rumors"

LOL if he never used Google then he would've never found this forum.

If everyone Googled for everything instead of asking, people like me would never learn. I've mentioned this a few times already but people here are so thick-headed that they refuse to do anything different. I learn from this site and soon I hope to become certified thanks to the wealth of knowledge that I have gotten from the result of people asking here instead of googling.

As for the OP's question, I would think that animation on a second monitor would have atleast some impact on games, even a 2x2 animation. Games tend to push computers to the limit. If you plug in 2 monitors into 1 graphics card and run a game on 1 monitor and an animation on the other, the GPU on the chip has to process animation for both monitors at the same time. Since intense games tend to use all of the GPU at the same time, any animation on a second monitor would steal "bandwidth" from the game, thus resulting in a frame drop. How significant the drop would be, I don't know.

Why isn't offensive clothing no more offensive? Have we lowered our standards?

Rayburn, I've been a regular at CN for over 5 years & found it myself by googling a particular problem I was having. I do my best to help around here & I also do my best to back up my answers with a link or two when I can. The OP mentions "hearing rumors", but hasn't bothered to say where he's heard them from, even when he was asked.

It stands to reason that displaying a movie on one monitor while gaming on the other will degrade gaming performance, but there are other things that come into play other than just the video card. How about the amount of RAM or whether the CPU is single core or multi-core?

meisinscotland, if you wanna debate me about any issues, that's fine, I'm up for it. But the moderators aren't very tolerant of name calling.

Same here to all the above. However that comment does little to disprove my point that "Google it" isn't always the answer.

"It stands to reason that displaying a movie on one monitor while gaming on the other will degrade gaming performance, but there are other things that come into play other than just the video card. How about the amount of RAM or whether the CPU is single core or multi-core?"

How about it! Of course these are all factors but my comment was only intended to be "on-the-surface."

THAT IS RIGHT, nothing like a personalized answer to a specific problem.

It's called being HUMAN. Somtimes I feel like a number.

I'm just wondering when the internet goes down, how smart will we be? I believe that the exploitation of the internet has gone to far. Instead of studying things, we just look it up on google for a answer, even if we don't fully understand the problem. Problem is then fixed, and we don't learn a shooty phooey.

I just asked/posted a ? on connecting a portable DVD player with a 8"LCD that actually was a gift to my wife for her car. I have a TV Tuner card however when I watch TV while browsing the net it takes up about 5"x6" of space on my 19"LCD ! So I figured if I could use the dispaly on this small DVD player with the 8"LCD display to put TV in full screen mode on ,that would be great ! MY ATI Graphics card does support two monitors being hooked up to it.
I was glad to see that Iam not the only one that is fed up with Jam ,who I give credit for having alot of knowledge ,however sometimes he is more criticial of the person for listing the post then actually giving a answer that will actually help the poster. I have also been coming here for years, actually since 2000 and I've recieved alot of help and have actually helped some others myself ,which I found very rewarding. Somtimes when you try a google search you will actually recieve on your search ? a answer listed here a computing.net. After all is that not what this site was designed to do ?
Take Care to All
Nick
