Hey guys,

I'm having a little trouble with my dual monitors. I used to use them in my room so i could watch films and stuff in bed (sad) but now I have a use the extension cable in my flat to have my pc in one room and the secondary monitor in the other room for bed time films. The problem is before it didn't matter if i didnt have any sound on the other monitor because i could just listen to it from the primary but currently i cant seem to get sound working on the secondary monitor. The secondary monitor is a 2.radeon x850 series and it has build in speakers. it does have a slot at the (green for sound and pink for mic) back but i assume that i would only need them if i were to plug in my own speakers which are already currently plugged into the green slot on my PC in the living room. I tried taking them out and putting them into the slot on the secondary monitor with no joy. I have got the picture working fine. I am probably being really dumb and im sure there is a simple answer (yes i have turned the speakers on). But any help would be massively appreciated.

kind regards,

Alex

You still need to connect the monitor to the sound ports. You probably need a separate cable for that.

Right. You won't get sound from the computer unless the monitor is connected to the sound card. Sounds like you haven't done that.

"...radeon x850 series.." is your display adapter - your onboard video chipset, or the chipset on your video card- not your monitor.

The jacks on the monitor are for inputs - from a mic, or from speaker out (a.k.a. line out) on your computer.

You run a stereo cable with a 1/8" plug on both ends between your onboard sound or sound card speaker out jack, or your case headphone jack if it is hooked up, and the green jack on the monitor.
If the case headphone jack isn't hooked up, you need a stereo Y wiring adapter to plug into the speaker out jack on the oboard sound or sound card as well - one 1/8" stereo plug (male) to two inline jacks (female) - and you plug the plugs to the speakers (male) into the jacks( female).

I am fond of that dual monitor system, I think you may need to get a cable or an adapter for that second moitor.
