Comment:

Our office would like to setup a few employees with dual monitors at their desks.
The problem is, our tiny Dell towers will not physically accommidate standard video card size(height). I tried a "dual monitor" card from home, but we can't close the case, it's too tall. We will have to contact Dell and buy their cards, unless there is some kind of hardware available that will act as a spliter. If something like this actually exists. I'm thinking of something that could attach to the PC's onboard SVGA and split off to each separate monitor.
Please advise.

Thanks!

You probably don't need to get them from Dell.

There are lots of video cards available these days that will either fit in a reduced height case as is, or they come with two brackets that fit at the end of a slot - one attached to the card (usually standard height), another one you can optionally install by removing the one on the card and swapping brackets (usually a lower height).

There are simple Y adapter cables that adapt one video output on a card to two monitors, but the results are usually poor, especially if one or more monitor(s) is attached to a long extension.

Video splitter boxes are easily available and may cost less than a dual monitor output video card. These are the same thing that are used in stores to show the same video source on two or more monitors.
They vary in the max resolution they will support, usually have a built in amplifier so that you can get good video signals on all outputs even if you use a long extension to one or monitors, and you can get them with otputs to two or more monitors.

Hey.. Thanks for the FYIs
I realize now that what we need are not "spliters", but rather "half height bracket" PCI video cards. Sorry, I did not make it clear that our goal was a "split screen" configration for these office work stations.

Thanks a Million guys!!
