I have a dual-boot box - Win 7 Pro and Ubuntu 10. The 2 monitors are detected in Ubuntu and I can set up my dual monitor environment perfectly. However, Win 7 does not detect the second monitor so that both monitors display same stuff. I have installed latest drivers for both monitors (ViewSonic 22 inch and 19 inch) to no avail. It's ironic that a Linux distro works but a Microsoft OS does not. Any ideas? The card is an nVidia - not sure of model. Thanks...
The video card driver may be the issue here. You probably have the generic drivers running. LOTS of incorrect, installable nVidia drivers floating around. Open the box - check the printing on the video chip and get the drivers from the manufacturer for that chip. I've seen the video card model number on the fan guard for some nVidia cards. What driver is Ubuntu using? Get the model from there without opening the box.
