Dual monitor problem

March 22, 2011 at 23:11:42
Specs: Windows XP
I am running a i7 2600, 4g ram, ATI 6950 card, 650w p/s, (windows 7)
Monitor - samsung BX2450
Problem ! I am trying to run dual monitors, have tried all 'fixes' that I know of (not many)
Tried 2 different monitors (both have vga input only) to run with the samsung
using a DVI-D M TO VGA F Converter Adapter
1. Dell E173FPb - get 'running in power save mode'
2.Samsung W1943s - get 'check signal cable'

Any suggestions ??

What are the steps you took? Did you check the check box to extend your desktop to the second monitor?

Tell us how far you got in this process.

Hi helpers
Hang off on more ideas for now
I think I stumbled over the problem
apparently my converter - DVI- D to VGA does not support analog signals
but the DVI- I to VGA supports both digital & analog
+ the cards' No.1 DVI port supports both digital & analog
& no. 2 DVI port supports digital only
So, I'm getting a DVI- I to VGA converter adapter & plugging it into the No. 1 port
Will keep you informed
