2 HP vs17 LCD Flatscreen Monitors
NVIDIA GeForce 6600
Windows XP

I've been using one monitor since February, it came with my comuter. The other arrived yesterday. Both monitors are set to the Factory settings, but the colors are severely mismatched. I've tried adjusting the Gamma, Brightness and Contrast settings on each monitor, resetting the default display in Bios - even messing with the advanced settings in the GeForce 6600...just will not match up.

Is this an issue with the graphics card, the monitors themselves??? Is there anything else I can try. I do web design, so it's important that the colors match between monitors. Am I wrong in thinking that two of the exact same monitors (both new, fairly), should be capable of displaying the same?

Any suggestions or advice are greatly appreciated.

I think it is the monitors, because they were probably manufactured in different batches.

How close are their serial numbers?

However, prove this by swapping their interface connections and see if their colours remain the same.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

The best idea to try is as Mike says, switch their video inputs and see if the colours remain the same.

I run two identical Dell 17's, one has been running for about 6 months longer than the other, they both came from the same batch however.

There seems to be some sort of burn in effect because i have started to use just the new one for a while and it's slowly getting to be closer to the original monitor, this is the only other suggestion i can pose. Hope one of these helps you.

Thanks for your responses. I believe the different batch theory as well, the monitors seem to be working as they should.

There are also some small physical differences between monitors in addition to the color. Perhaps the technology was *improved*.

Perhaps the lesson here is to buy them at the same time and make sure they are from the same batch, or close.

Thanks again.
