hi, i was just wondering if i can run dual master HDDs. is it possibl to set up a dual boot system similar to the option given when you have more than one OS installed on a single HDD. the reason for this is i have recently bought a new 120GB HDD and was given a 20GB HDD from a friend. i would like to run Linux off the 20GB and XP off the 120. that way i wont have to delve into my bad history of partitions. is this possible?
what you do is first install XP on the 120gb HDD (it'll ask you which drive to use in the install program) then install Linux, and it's install program will ask you what drive to use. Make sure you install Linux AFTER XP..because installing XP second will mess Linux up. After linux is installed, when you reboot you should get a menu that allows you to select windows or linux.
You can have two disks set to master [we are talking ide config] if on seperate ide channels.
If your bios supports it you can boot each drive as standalone via the bios. This way you can install each OS on a single drive [different then the other OS] and boot each by setting your bios to boot it.
Otherwise you have to multiboot off one disk that accesses the other disk for a OS like linux.
