Hi,
I'm trying to get dual external Dell flatscreens working by attaching them to a thinkpad T42 docking station. One via DVI and one via VGA. When I go into display/setting to turn on an additional monitor, it just turns on the LCD screen of the laptop. I've tried fn+f7, this doesnt work. I think it's something to do with the DVI connection as if I disconnect the DVI and go through the VGA with one screen, I can use fn+f7 to switch between the LCD and the external monitor. But if I try the same thing with the DVI monitor, it just switches off the LCD display without turning on the monitor attached to the DVI port.
Any ideas appreciated.
Scott.

Maybe not much help but just a thought, when you drill down to the display properties--->settings do you see two screens displayed in that window or just one as if it was not in the docking station at all, I have a dual head setup only its on a desktop and I can tell you that until you can get to the screen with 2 displays numbered 1 , 2 you wont ever see both working, for me it was letting winbloz try and handle the hardware install was my problem but when I closed the detection wizard crap allowed the system to boot thru then run the video install that came with the card all was well....anyways
try this link for more info:

Keep the old stuff running

Scott,
I also have a t42. Phillips monitor through DVI working. I know it sounds retarded, but check your monitor. First, make sure the power cable is firmly in place. I had a problem where the monitor seemed to be on (green pwr button on), but the pwr cable wiggled its way out just enough to only power the green LED but not the internal chips.
If the power is fully in, ask a friend to test your monitor. This will eliminate the possibility of a bad monitor.Fn + F7 is flaky at best. Use the Display Properties.
