Why do most boards have two ethernet ports? why is it necessary? Why would people need 2 ethernet ports?

makes an easy makeshift router for ICS and so on, better than wasting a pci slot for another NIC

Sometimes, although they look alike, very often one is for ethernet one is for dialup,

They do look very much alike, it is a case of size does matter, the ethernet one is usually slightly larger.
