Hi!
i use: TwinMOS PC3200 TwiSTER DDR 512MB CL2 Chip = WLCSP, (DDR-PC400MHz)
On my A7N8X Deluxe with 2500@3200

i want more ram so i was wondering if i buy the same chip, will i be able to use dual channel?

the board support it but i dont know if the ram does... I looked at their website but didnt find ANYTHING about dual channel...

Anyone with the same memory? did it work in dual channel?

can i use ANY chip in dual channel?
or does it have to be same maker, speed and sizE?

i know it must be same size but since i will probably buy two more chips in a year i was wondering about buying one that have 433 mhz(pc3500). Can i just clock that down to 400?? or does it have to be "identical"?

hope for many replies..

Generally speaking, the RAM should be identical. Manufacturer's started selling matched pairs because of compatibilty issues.

The bandwidth is limited by the FSB...at 200mhz/400FSB, the bandwidth is 3200mb/sec...which is the same as PC3200 RAM. Running in dual channel mode would put the RAMs theoretical bandwidth at 6400mb/sec (2 x 3200), but since your motherboard/CPU is limited to 3200mb/sec, there's not much to be gained by running dual channel

i know that about the 3200*2=6400 stuff but is it possible to run with that chip? or is it just special chips?

i also know that dual channel is only worh using on 800 mhz cpu or similar... as the pentiums... but isnt it slower to run two chips without dual channel than with it? cos i need more ram as i am video-editing... then it would suck if it was slower when i got one more stick..

question: Is it better with two sticks in dual channel or is it just as bad as two without dual channel?
i really hope u can reply to this!!

As jam stated you won't get any boost in usable bandwidth. If you need more ram just put it in there and if dual channel works maybe no gain, but no loss. Same for 1GB of single channel, no loss. As far as athe ram working at all, I would say there should be no problem.
