I want to buy a motherborad that supports Dual channel memory RAM, but I have a single channel memory RAM of 512MB, I would like to know if my single channel memory can work without any problem in this new motherboard that supports dual channel.

Dual channel isn't the RAM, it's a function of the motherboard. You need 2 matching sticks to take advantage of it, plus a board that supports it. You can run in single channel mode, however, if you have a P4 CPU that runs at 533 or 800FSB, or an Athlon 64/S939, you should be running in dual channel mode or the RAM becomes the system bottleneck.

"but I have a single channel memory RAM"......
What else are you going to need ?...FYI dual channel memory is a misnomer that I think has gone on for two long. What is most important is that the pair be of same type, and run at the same speed. They don't even have to be the same brand nor size to run in dual channel mode.
Do not type anything in this space.

I have an Intel pentium 4 processor 2.40A Ghz, 512MB DDR 333, and a Hard Drive of 120GB.
I want to buy this motheboard: Asus P4S800D-X SiS 655FX P4/Celeron 800FSB Skt478 DDR ATX Motherboard w/Audio, LAN, RAID/Serial ATA 400/533/800FSB, ATA/133, AGP 8X, 4DDR DIMM (Dual Channel), 5PCI, USB 2.0, Audio, LAN, RAID/SATA. So I think that I should not have problem using my 512MB DDR 333.
Any comments?Paricuatirimicuaro
