Comment:
My computer has a Biostar TF7050-M2 Motherboard, AMD X2 4400+ Processor.
My problem is the ram which is OCZ 2gb Dual Channel DDR2-800 (2 x 1024).
I can only seem to run 1 stick at a time, and they don't function with each other in dual channel, therefore, the system becomes inoperative.
POST completes fine with no BIOS beeps, or lights going off or on. Everything seems to be fine according to the Motherboard manual. But it cannot pass the company's logo screen at the beginning with both sticks in place.
Everything runs fine with 1 stick in.
Any advise I should take? Update BIOS? Or is the ram just not supported or something wrong in the BIOS?
Did you put each DIMM in the correct slots ? Your mobo has 4 slots, and there is usually a restriction about where you can put two DIMMs. You should look at the manual, but it should probably be one in the green slot and one in the orange slot.
One or both of your ram modules are probably incompatible with your mboard's chipset
Trying ram in this mboard that works in another mboard , or trying any ram you buy or have lying around, may not work - it has to be compatible with the mboard and it's chipset.
See response 5 in this for some info about ram compatibilty, and some places where you can find out what will work in your mboard for sure: http://www.computing.net/hardware/w... Correction to that: Mushkin www.mushkin.com .....
I recently was looking for ram for an Asus M2N-E SLI. OCZ, Kingston, and Crucial ram were on sale locally. I could not determine if those particular OCZ modules would work for sure in that model on their web site, so I bought Crucial ones, and they work fine.
It is better to go with the QVL(qualified vendor list) of the mobo manufacturer for RAM. However, on many forums there are plenty of people having problems with RAM from the QVL. Conversely, RAM which is not on the QVL(but close to the same specs) may and probably often does work fine. The QVL is only the RAM that the mobo manufacturer has actually tested.
