Good Evening,

I have a gigiabyte Mobo socket 939 that supports dual channel ram. When I got the machine it had one ddr400 pc3200 512 meg stick. I just installed 2 sticks of Corsair ddr400 pc3200, 512 each to give me a gig of ram. I removed the single stick, and put it aside for now. My question is, if I reinstall it in memory slot 3 ( I have 4) will the single stick in slot 3 cancel out the dual channel capabilities of the sticks in the first bank? I'm under the impression that in order to have dual channel ram enabled, you have to install it in pairs. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanx
Grass

You are correct. You need two identical sticks of memory and they must be installed one on each controller. The slot colors vary by board. The third stick will drop you out of dual channel.
