Dual boot disappeared after XP installation

June 23, 2009 at 09:57:27
Specs: Windows Vista home, 2.2 GHz / 2046 MB
Had a system with two SATA HDDs one with Vista and one with XP. There was a dual boot menu from Windows. Windows XP didn´t work any more at a certain moment. So decided to physically disconnect the Vista HDD and re-installed and activated the XP programme. Now I do not have a dual boot menu any more and can only boot into XP. Tried with BootMagic 8.0, but he does not recognise the Vista HDD. The Vista HDD shows up in Windows Explorer and I can access my documents there without a problem. How can I get Vista to be used again =

Thanks for any help.

You wiped out the boot menu when you reinstalled XP. EasyBCD *may* be able to fix it.

If you have a Vista install disk (not a system recovery disk), you could attempt a startup repair

Booted with a Vista install disk and made a repair a few times. Now Vista is back, but no sign of a possibility to start XP. With VistaBootPro tried to find the HDD where XP is, but no sign of it. In Windows Explorer it appears with as it seems all files intact. Any ideas to still make it a dual boot system ?
