Dropped laptop hard drive not detected.

Specs: Windows Vista
same problem. dropped the laptop, now harddrive not spinning up, no detection. I tried no battery with power cord, but nothing. fan works, but no spinning on the harddrive. shuts down after about 5 seconds. continues to try and reboot on it's own. please help!
toshiba satellite t135.

You need a new hard drive. Hard drives just do not like being dropped.

If the head seek mechanism has become displaced as is most likely or the disk spindle has been knocked of centre then there is nothing that can be done.

You mean you don't have backup copies? If the HDD is physically damaged, you will have to take it to a recovery specialist to have the data retrieved - it will NOT be cheap.

No backup. been looking at 1TB Drives, but haven't pressed the GO button on it. live and learn i guess.
