drives(eg c:,d:)not opening

Which drives you are trying to open is kind of confusing.
Choose Windows explorer or just plain Explorer from the list. If they are not available you need to browse for them.

Surely all you have to do is click on the icon (picture) for the disc concerned and it will take you down a level, showing the various folders containing applications and/or data.
When you are in a data folder, left click on the icon for the item you wish to view and it should open using the correct application.
If not, you right click and select 'open' (which is the same as left click) or 'open with' and you are then presented with a list of applications to choose from, as is shown in your photo.
