I am looking for the audio drivers for a Dell Dimension XPS T450. I tried the Dell site and they only have some Turtle Beach driver which isn't even a driver, it's like a driver diagnostic utility. I cannot for the life of me find the driver for sound ANYWHERE on the internet, nor can I find any place to look for it. It is an integrated card.

If anyone knows a way around this, or how I can find out and FIND the drivers I need, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Download and run either Belarc Advisor or Everest Home Edition. They will tell you exactly which audio adapter you have.

You *should* have YAMAHA DS-XG audio.

I took the card out, which isn't actually integrated and it's a Turtle Beach Vortex or some other. I looked up drivers for it but I cannot find any for Windows XP. What do I do?

Unfortunately, that card is too old. There are no drivers available thru Turtle Beach, but apparently XP has generic drivers built into the OS.

The driver supplied by Dell is TB2-ENG.EXE. You can download it here:

http://ftp1.us.dell.com/audio/

The file date indicates it doesn't include XP drivers and as Jam's link indicates, turtlebeach didn't supply them anyway.

That card's got the AU8830A2 chipset. You might check here:

http://www.dayc.vispa.com/

and click on the AU8830 link. I think that's the closest you're going to get to an XP fix.

You can also check this old thread:

http://www.computing.net/drivers/ww...

Many of the links they give there are dead and others posted in with different aureal chipsets. The MX300 mentioned there has the same au8830a2 chipset so any fix that works for it should work for your card. #60 mentions that microsoft finally has an update. But I think the fix in my post above may be newer.
