Driver issues

Nvidia / Geforce gtx 260

Specs: Windows XP

So last night I tried to update the drivers for my Nvidia GeForce GXT 260 by going into the Device Manager on the Hardware tab in System Properties to do so.

Well this failed and it said it was going to revert to the older version, however when it did so it came back on in the lowest settings and internet pages were scrolling very slowly.

I figured it was the way I went about updating it so I went to the Nvidia drivers pages and did it from there. Same results.

So my question is how can I properly update the drivers OR at least get it back to the way it was so web pages scroll at the proper speed.

Thanks for any help.

Download the driver file to either the desktop or your My Documents folder, then once you have it, double click to install.

I have tried that it gets to about 1/4 of the installing driver components progress bar and then I get the message

"Failed to install one of the core component which may affect driver functionality. The most recent driver that worked will now be restated."

And I still have the scrolling problem on web pages.

Any ideas?
