Hi,

Yes, i know no human has ever found a good solution for this but here we go..

I'm one of many people who are suffering from the dreaded "Display driver has stopped responding and has been recovered" error during 3d applications... While playing games, the screen freezes, goes blank, then goes to the desktop and gives the error above, i have to reboot to make it work again...

For me the problem started when i recently upgraded my CPU,Mobo,RAM... before this everything was fine...
I'm using the same drivers as before, i'm using the same graphicscard as before, and i'm using the same powersupply as before...

The error always happens during gaming, on some games it's much worse then others..
for example, i can play Brothers in Arms - Hell's Highway for hours without a crash, but with crysis it usually crashes within minutes...
Also, most of the time i cannot finish a 3DMark06 run because of crashes (which strangely doesn't seem random in 3DMark, it allways crashes in the 2nd or the last test.)
3DMark also crashes a lot more when i overclock the CPU's FSB from 1066 to 1333, which goes together with increasing the NB voltage...

So i myself was thinking it could be the Powersupply.. it's a 580W with 2 +12V lines, one rated @ 20A, and one @ 18A...

Could this be my problem?? most people on the forums say it's all the driver's fault.. but it was working fine on my previous system so i'm not sure...

Oh btw, my CPU and RAM are 100% stable, ran memtest and prime2004 (4 copies at once for Quad Core) for over 10 hours without any errors...
Oh, and my Asus P5N-T Deluxe's Bios has been updated to latest version aswell (1201)

..So, please.. can anyone help me? i am without hope..

Thanks in advance.

are you using a driver from evga or nvidia? whichever, try the other. make sure to uninstall previous drivers before installing the new ones.

it might also be a good idea to strip out everything not necessary for the pc to run, like your additional hard drives.

you say that you "upgraded [your] CPU,Mobo,RAM [...] before this everything was fine...I'm using the same drivers as before." Does this mean you pulled your old hard drive from an old computer, and added it to a machine with a new motherboard? This process has limited success and usually causes more problems. It can be hard to scrub the old chipset drivers out and get a good install with the correct drivers. If you have a build with a new motherboard, it's usually time for a fresh OS install as well.

I hope you installed the new motherboard drivers.

Offcourse not, i did a complete format and fresh install of vista & drivers...

Yes, well.. nVdia has a package for a large series of chipsets (nforce 4 to 7) so yes it's basicly the same package but it's the right one for my board, also tried 3 different versions...

typically, there's only one correct driver. if you've tried multiple installs of multiple drivers, how do you know it's the right one for the board? it might be time to call your motherboard manufacturer.

Yeah, actually what i meant with "versions" is newer and older ones.. like the same driver that is v15.23 gets updated to v20.08 for example..
