is there the slightest chance that if i want to use dl (dual layer) discs on my LG DL drive i need to install a driver for windows? i got a dl disc and i put it in my drive and all it does is try to read it, then stops. im using BHA B's recorder gold 5 with an HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GWA-4161B. anyhelp is appreciated because i want this too work, i have a ton of stuff i need to backup ASAP ( i have a tendency to screw up my comp on a moments notice) please help, thanks

No, you do not need to install any drivers. What is the exact version of your B's Recorder Gold? Dual layer support was added in version 5.49. If you version is not at least 5.49, download the 5.50 update from B's site and see if that helps:

thanks for the quick reply, i would have come back and answered early but i was at school. i am using b's recorder 5 gold version 5.50, i bought some different dvd+r dl discs made by a more reputable company and they didnt work either. they do the identical thing. this is very irritating because this burner is only like 2 or 3 months old, and it says DVD+R DL on the front of it. its an LG so its a good company, iv had a few lg drives and never had any problems , so i dont know what to think, any more ideas?

I also have the same drive, and have the exact same problem. I have tried nero 7, and other programs, but they do not recognize the dl disk. I think the problem is with the LG drive. I've heard this drive was an in between model release. I'm not too sure if there is a fix for this problem. If one is found, could you email me the details? Thanks.
