drive problems

Dell / OPTIPLEX 755
April 21, 2009 at 23:59:48
Specs: no os yet, intel duo 2.2/ 2gb
I have an Optiplex 755 SFF that will not recognize both the dvd rom and the hard drive at the same time. These are both new SATA drives.. If I disconnect either, the other will be recognized.
I have also bought a new USB floppy. It does not recognize either..
I think it may be a bios problem but can’t update BIOS without some DRIVES.
It will read the dvd and start to load windows, but when it is time to load to hard drive, it shows as drive not present..I am really stumped on this one.
I have tried everything I can think of...Any help would be really appreciated..

Hmm. There are 2 types of drives as far I know. IDE and SATA drives. Are you sure your current specs do support SATA drives? Because that's the first thing I can think of right now.

Hmm, you said the hard drive was new didn't you? Maybe it's just not working correctly. You should check your warranty.

Hard drive does work...It just can't load xp.....for some reason it will not find the hdd when the dvd rom is installed....BTW..I read your post about motherboards...take a real close look at MSI m/boards..they are supposed to be one of the best out there now.....
