Drive not reading any burned CDs

This issue is with a new laptop, less than 2 months old, no problems at all to date. After installing a burned copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 from 4 burned CDs, the system stopped reading ALL burned CDs I put in there. It reads commercial audio CDs and commercial DVDs just fine, but burned CDs (both data and audio) all appear to be blank discs. The drive is a Mats---a DVD-RAM UJ-850S. I've already tried system restore with no success, uninstalling Fight Simulator, and even deleting the LowerFilters value in the registry. Nothing seems to work and Google has not returned any problems like mine.

it could be caused by a problem with your drive, when you burn a disk it just makes dark and light areas to make the laser read like its holes when there are no holes, but when disks are mass produced they are actually stamped by a press and the label goes on one side and small holes are imprinted on the other side, so most likely the laser is at fault, and if its still under warranty i would recommend returning the reader and try to get a better burner/reader if you could afford a small price difference -- here is some info on the other methods that cds are made http://tinyurl.com/2notaw
